My name is Kimberly Merritt and I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 33 years of experience specializing in individual, couples and family therapy and EMDR. I maintain a private practice in Fort Myers, Florida.

Many times we struggle with the twists and turns of life. Perhaps we are seeking a new path or direction for ourselves, or are dealing with stress, trauma, anxiety or depression. My goal is to help people reach their full potential with regards to their personal and professional lives, whether their issues involve family and relationships, work, or past events. Through therapy, I help individuals manifest what is most important to them, and ultimately become the people they want to be. My style of counseling is supportive and engaging, but I will also comfortably challenge people to address thought processes or behaviors which no longer work for them.

I have extensive experience working with survivors of trauma, whether it is secondary to military experience, abuse, or loss. Through various treatment approaches, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing),  I facilitate the healing process which enables us to work through the pain of these events. I also have special interest in women’s issues and life transitions, whether that is moving out of a relationship or into a different career or stage of life.

I consider myself an interactive, solution-focused therapist who will offer a highly personalized approach tailored for each of my clients. I believe we can change how we interact with and view the world to one which is positive and growth oriented. This may include developing skill sets which allow us to be fully in the present, and possibly utilize techniques which include meditation or mindfulness.  I look forward to working with you as you move forward on your life’s pathway.
